Always the 2nd Saturday in October!
Fall in Mount Vernon, TX means two things: football and CountryFest! Each year on the 2nd Saturday in October thousands of folks travel from all over to gather at the city square in Mount Vernon and enjoy the largest annual city-wide event. CountryFest began in 1974 and this year will mark the 43rd annual CountryFest!
Come early to enjoy a pancake breakfast near Tom Ramsay Real-Estate hosted by the Rotary Club. Stay for a while and enjoy live entertainment by local musicians while you stroll through the myriad of vendor booths offering local, artisan, hand-crafted goods. This is a family affair so bring everyone and enjoy children’s games, a dunking booth, Car Show complete with door prizes, and lots more. Bring a healthy appetite to sample the best homemade stews at the Stew Cook Off, locally-made tamales and tacos, fresh-smoked barbecue, homemade root beer by the Boy Scouts, and of course a funnel cake, snow cone or cotton candy to top it all off!
